Show Songwriters Association seminar continued from page 7 A publisher and co-owner of LA Aire, a state-of-the-art recording studio where major artists such as Whitney Houston and Anita Baker record, Dude will also be actively looking for songs. He says he's searching for great songs in all styles, and is on the lookout for songs for Lisa Stanfield ( contE~mporary dance-lyric driven,) EXPOSE (same) and an un-named three girl modern R&B act. Also on staff is Steve Eaton, a singer I songwriter, former member of Paul Revere and the Raiders and Capitol Records Solo Artist, and a studio/record label owner and arranger, whose songs have been recorded by Art Garfunkle, Anne Murray, The Carpenters, Lee Greenwood, The Righteous Brothers and others. He has been nominated for two Emmy awards for his film and TV composition. A USA favorite, Steve hails from Pocatello (via Nashville), and will not only be exercising his gentle critiquing style, but will perform some of his songs during an informal concert where he will also discuss the writing process, as well as how he has made a career of music here in "No-Man's Land," the Intermountain West. Unlike previous years, there will be ONLY ONE SHOWCASE this year. There will be a charge of $5 to perform a song in the showcase. Those who aren't quite ready to present a song can save their money and relax and enjoy the others. Those who wish to perform must pre-register and apply for a showcase slot. Space and time are limited, so apply early. A professional sound system and engineer will be provided. There may be some refreshments as well. Feel free to invite whomever you would like for a very pleasant evening of performing songwriters. Registration begins Friday, Nov. 4, at 4 p.m.; seminar 4:30-6:30 p.m.; and showcase (free to public) at 7:30p.m. Seminar continues Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Cost of the entire two-day seminar is $55 if you preregister by Oct. 25, or $60 at the door.
