Abstract |
As part of the effort to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen from stationary sources, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment requested that Environment Canada lead a multi-stakeholder working group to establish a national emission guideline for land-based combustion turbines. This paper describes the rationale behind the guideline, which was completed in late 1992. NOx emission targets are based upon the facility's overall thermal efficiency for shaft and electrical power production, as well as an allowance for exhaust thermal energy utilization in a cogeneration plant. Emission limits set by provincial egulations may be more stringent to address local smog problems. |
