Show CANADIAN GAS ASSOCIATION DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL EMISSION GUIDELINES FOR STATIONARY COMBUSTION TURBINES October 1993 Banff, Alberta Manfred Klein Industrial Programs Branch Environment Canada 351 st. Joseph Blvd. Hull, Quebec K1A OH3 (819-953-6630) Summary As part of the effort to reduce emissions of oxides of ni trogen from stationary sources, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment requested that Environment Canada lead a multi-stakeholder working group to establish a national emission guideline for land-based combustion turbines. This paper describes the rationale behind the guideline, which was completed in late 1992. NO emission targets are based upon the facility's x • • • overall thermal efflclency for shaft and electrlcal power production, as well as an allowance for exhaust thermal ener~ utilization in a cogeneration plant. Emission limits set by provincial regulations may be more stringent to address local smog problems. |
