Show AMERICAN FLAME RESEARCH COMMITTEE ,; DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL EMISSION GUIDELINES FOR STATIONARY COMBUSTION TURBINES April 1994 Queen's University Kingston, ontario Manfred Klein Industrial Sectors Branch Environment Canada 351 st. Joseph Blvd. Hull, Quebec K1A OH3 (819-953-6630) Summary As part of the effort to reduce emissions of oxides of nitrogen from stationary sources, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment requested that Environment Canada lead a multi-stakeholder working group to establish a national emission guideline for land-based combustion turbines. This paper describes the rationale behind the guideline, which was completed in late 1992. NOx .emission targets are based upon the facility's overall thermal efficiency for shaft and electrical power production, as well as an allowance for exhaust thermal energy utilization in a cogeneration plant. Emission limits set by provincial regulations may be more stringent to address local smog problems. |
