Show Prof. Aziz S. Atiya December 15, 1972 Page 2 when you will be in Egypt and where I can contact you because it would be a lot of fun for both of us to be at our old home again at the same time. You're one of the world's greatest scholars, and I'm always amazed at the tremendous output that you accomplish. When I think of other scholars who have the same amount of time or even more time than you have and the very little they turn out. It wouldn't take us long for you and me to make up a list which would be very similar, and we could start off with Kenneth Clark. I believe I told you I got my Ph.D from the University of Brussels. I wrote a 300-page thesis on the Archaeology of South Arabia and alSD did my orals in Arabic, French, and English, and my judges were all speaking Flemish. I got it with distinction and am publishing the book on the archaeology and also my Life of Jesus, which I worked on for eight years, will go to press this next year. All will be sent to you in due time. Hoping you and your dear wife will come out Hawaii way and pick a time when I will be here so I can look after you with our best aloha hospitality. By the way, congratulations on the accomplishments on your other children. They seem to be doing fantastically well. Sometimes I get a little discouraged about the present generation, but your children and their accomplishments show there is still life left in the world worth living and it makes me feel better all over. Thank you again for coming out to my performance at the University of Utah. I know that if it had not been for you none of it would have been possible. Believe me, I was speaking to you when I gave my performance and everybody knew it, which is a small tribute to your great scholarship. Without you we would not have the Mt. Sinai expedition, that's for sure. My love to your wife and family. Looking forward to hearing from you. Fond Alohas from Hawaii. Since WentteiL^Fnil lips Prdf. pf Archaeology sity of Wyoming WP :bt |
