Show £3'\f May 26, 1960 Dr. George H. Forsyth Jr., Chairman Department of the History of Art The University of Michigan Ann Arbor, Michigan Dear George? Thank you so much for your good letter of May 20 and your immediate response to my previous correspondence. Before all other considerations, let me say how profoundly moved with a sense of gratification and spiritual relief we Doth are at the announcement of your betrothal. This is a step in which all your friends will concur and we are especially gladdened with Hope's reasonable reactions* Of course, we should like to be at the wedding in the beautiful St* Paul's Chapel with which we are so familiar, but alas! the same week of June is crowded with end of term activities, exams., commencement and other official functions, barring our way to the realisation of a most cordial wish. If we are unable to participate in person, you can rest assured that we shall be participating in the spirit; and we shall pray for s. most successful union with Ilene. This, you deserve, and we are certain that the Lord will, grant it* Our warmest congratulations in advance. My longish letter to Vice-President Abdel-Fattah must be in Alexandria by now and I am glad you have coupled it with a note from you. Should you feel it necessary that I should again write to anyone else, do let me know and I shall always be ready to act promptly in the usual manner* As to your willingness to include in your goods and chattels a couple of items intended to hand over to Aballah Ragab, 1 must offer you and Fred my gratitude. I shall accordingly make a point of letting you have the said parts in the early part of July this summer* I shall also inform Abdallah of this gracious act and intimate his services to the expedition with the customs and finance. |
