Show -5- BUSINESS LIBRARIAN RETIRES Alice Taylor Moynahan, wife of Paul R. Moynahan retired December 23, 1976 as Business Librarian of the John L. Firmage Library which is located on the top floor of the Business Building after twenty-one years of service. Ali started working in October of 1955 in a small 12x16 foot room in the Annex which had been designed as the Annex Business Library. It started as a live, up-to-date current collection and has continued to grow in size, reputation and service and has developed into one of the best branch libraries on campus and one of the most outstanding in the nation in comparison to other College of Business libraries. Before coming to the University of Utah Ali was graduated from the L.D.S. High School where she received the Heber J. Grant Award. She attended Brigham Young University and went to Secretarial School in Washington D.C. Prior to becoming our Business Librarian she worked as a secretary and teacher for the Salt Lake Board of Education, as a secretary to Frederick J. Haskins, a newspaper syndicate columnist in Washington D.C. and as office manager for the Redwood Empire Association in San Francisco where she did public relations, advertising and travel promotion. She married Paul R. Moynahan whom she met skiing at Sun Valley. They have one daughter, Elizabeth. Her other hobbies include tennis, swimming, music and art. Alice has made many, many friends while serving as Business Librarian.
