Atiya 99 Claremont Avenue New York 27, N. Y. Dear Dr. Atiya: I am tremendously grateful for your speedy confirmation of the date of January 29 for your speaking engagement at Voorhees Chapel. Thank you, also, for the biographical data and the excellent photograph. Members of the Voorhees Board are much impressed and are looking forward eagerly to your coming. The special title we have chosen for our series is "Religion Today in Critical Areas". We will list your totdc as "Religion in the Middle Sast". A map of our campus is enclosed. The Voorhees Chapel, it should be noted, is not to be confused with the Kirkpatrick Chapel which is on the men's campus on the other side of town from Douglass. If you are driving, you will probably find it best to come across the George Washington Bridge and make connection from there with the New Jersey Turnpike. The New Brunswick exit is Number 9. Travel time for one who is absolutely familiar with this road is about one and one-quarter hours from Union Seminary. If you come by train, use the Pennsylvania Railroad from Penn Station. There is a train at 10 o'clock, arriving in New Brunswick at lOtIj.1. Take a taxi from the station to Voorhees Chapel. My office is in the Chapel basement and is easily found. I would not advise coming from New York by bus. If you have your own academic robe or ecclesiastical robe you may wish to bring it with you. Otherwise, an academic robe will be provided here. We do not wear academic cap or hood for the Assembly. You will recall that the program starts at 11:2£. I am delighted that you can stay for discussion and luncheon. Most cordially yours, P:w enc. Syrus R. Pangborn, Chairman Voorhees Assembly Board |
