Show lh Sharia Wadi el-7ttl, Maadi (Hear Cairo), Egypt, February 11, 1952. My dear Professor Hitti, Thank you for both your kind letter and the extract from Macmillan.*s A,wte about the review copy of the lUstory of Syria. 1 am afraid that it has gone astray without hope of recovery. As I was anxious not to put off the review any longer in order to catch the next Bulletin of the Royal Historical Society, 1 have actually bought a copy and read it through with great care. 1 wish to congratulate you for this magnificent achievement. I wrote my review and sent it to the editor. It came to about five foolscap size sheets in my own hand. As soon as it is out, 1 shall let you have a copy of the Bulletin. 1 expect that this country is in your thought these days. I believe, however, that the situation is under control at a-resent. It is a wonder that one del $8 some work in this state of nervous tension, Best wishes to yon all from my wife and myself. Very sincerely yours. A2i2 S« Atiya. |
