Show In the first meeting between the Cougars and the Reds, the Cougars gave further indication of their ambition by presenting a powerful crew, but on the Utah courts they were defeated, five matches to two. The Cougars once again defeated the Aggies, and once again the two contenders met in a match at Provo, where the courts were a trifle more homelike to the Cougar tread. Here the Cougars took control of the situation and won the match, four matches to three. The following week-end the Utes defeated the Ags to tie up the race and a play-off was scheduled for the courts of the Salt Lake Tennis Association. On neutral courts the Y netters proved unbeatable, drubbing the Utes even more decisively than before. Bennion and Hardy being the only Utes to win, Bennion in his singles, and the team in the doubles. Captain Marvin Alter, Dick Bennion, Dan Freed, Gene Eardley, John Benson. Jack Hardy, Purdie Daines, Harold Forsberg, Marvin Bet-nun, Fred Glade, Harold Barker, and Don Wol-from composed the team. |
