Show "The youth who loves his Ajma Mater will always ask, not 'What can she do for me?' but 'What can I do for her?' " LeBaron Russe Briggs (paraphrased by John F. Kennedy) We welcome the Class of 1 978 to the ranks of outstanding University of Utah alumni. Congratulations on your fine accomplishments. We are looking forward to a long and rewarding relationship. The year 1 977-78 has been an outstanding one for the Alumni Association. We have sponsored a wide range of programs with great success and support from both the community and University alike. However, the most exciting event of the year has been the official kick-off of the new Alumni Center pictured above. For years, we have been serving over 1 1 5,000 alumni, 22,000 students and 3,000 faculty members from a home designed for a family of five. As a result, plans are underway to construct the Alumni Center just north of the Sill Home Living Center in the heart of campus. The Alumni Center will be an important campus center for students, faculty, staff and community activities. It will include dining and reception facilities, office and record rooms, and adequate meeting space. No facility such as this presently exists on campus. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 1 978, if the funds for the building can be raised in the private sector. No state funds can be used. So, your initiation as alumni begins in earnest by supporting your new home-The Alumni Center. Now that you are a member of the Alumni Association, you will be hearing from us. We'll send you news of the University, invite you to alumni activities and alert you to class reunions and other special events. The Alumni Association looks forward to serving you and the University of Utah in years to come. The University of Utah 28 Alumni Association |
