I got out of' debt, and out of' Missouri and arrived at Nauvoo on the 3rd of July A. D. 1843 and among the first things I did was to go to the Patriarch John Smith, father of George A. Smith and got a patriarchal blessing whlch is nere recorded as follows: "Nauvoo, July 11th, 1843. A blessing by John Smith, patriarch, upon the head of William Leany, son of' Culbert Means and Margaret or Peggy Cook Leany, born in Sipson Co., State of Kentucky, December 19, A. D. 1815.
