Which reminds us that a casual survey of the waiting room in the clinic one day revealed ~mong those waiting for the doctor people with these racial backgrounds: Spanish or Mexican, Portuguese, Ute, N avaho and "Anglo". IwlE HAVEN'T said much of late about the alcohol problem. Either things are getting better, or the troublesome ones are avoiding us, but it is true that we haven't been dreading Saturday evenings as we did a few months ago, when we hardly ever expected the Sabbath sun to sink without cracked skulls or broken bones being brought in for treatment. So, it came somewhat as a surprise shortly after dawn of the Sunday before this is being typed for us to have to care for five victims of an highway acci-' dent - two adults with broken back and pelvis, respectively and three children with minor inj uries. The care of these being beyond our facilities, Brother Juniper .i umped out of bed and rushed them. in the new ambulance to the nearest large hospital where they could be cared for, and where, at last reports, they seem to be doing well. LETTER FROM ALHAMBRA We set out to plan the Summer Work Project with one idea in mind which was to have an opportunity to experience the Christian life in action. Our privilege to serve at St. Christopher's gave us a very real occasion to do just that. This was the reason for the work project and as we have put it, the excuse was to build a mortuary. All but the roof of the mortuary was finished and we feel that in the course of the two weeks necessary for our travel and work, we were given a real opportunity for growth and experience. There see to be two underlying reasons for the success of our Work Proiect. First, we were able to offer our corporate worship of Almighty God daily: Morning and Evening Prayer and Mass at the Mission and en route; second, there was completely a spirit of giving - never once did we allow our- |
