Show 2 iR]ECE.NT arrival of a legacy from the Estate of Marguerite Gibson, a char ter member of our Corporation, reminds us that there are probably many ' among our readers who would be happy, when making their wills, to follow her example. We have also learned that two other of our devoted benefactors have made the Mission beneficiary of life insurance policies. 'For the informat ion of still other s, the name is : St. Christopher's Mission, Bluff, Utah, a pr oject of The Southwest Indian Mission, Inc. a corporation under the laws of the State of New York, having post office address at Little Portion Monastery, Mount Sinai, N.Y. IjlN ANOTHER column we print Father l!f' Hultgren's story of his young people's proj ect. We pause now only to wonder how many other parishes may be eagerly looking for something of this type next Summer? The enthusiasm for this project on the part of priest and youngsters will be better appreciated if you know that on the way home the brakes and transmission gave out entirely; they had to be towed 75 miles or more, hire another car to get home, and yet the cry was "Can we go next year?" lolNE of the faults with which we most often reprove ourselves is that we do not demand enough from our Navahos. We give and give, and expect nothing. In defense, we point out that the world is full of religious racketeers, yelling "Send two dollars to Umpteedoodle man for this marvelous book that tells you how Jesus saves", and we want to disassociate ourselves as completely as possible from their kind. Or, we recall how many years it t ook us to convince even the local Navahos that we are not t rying to get something away f rom them - as their past exper ience had apparently taught them was the way of all white men. Or, we remind ourselves that we must give an example of self -less giving. Yet the fact remains that we are not teaching them that they, too, must learn to give. Consequently, it gave us much joy to Jearn that one of our; Navaho families which had moved into the Church at Montezuma Creek as caretakers, had not only taken police powers unto t hemselves and r ecovered |
