Show - The applicable'State laws may be found in Chapter 2, (Irrigation and Water-rights) "Complied laws of Utah, 19 07," page 549 (aa amended), in part a3 follows: : ' i / •fl'f Any person, corporation, or association, to, hereafter acquire the right to the use of any publio water in tho stato/of Utah, nball, before commencing the construction, enlargement, or extension of any ditch, canal, or other distributing •AyA, ,'work3, or performing similar work tending to acquire- the 3aid right or appropriation, make an application in writing to the state engineer. -- • y i In his endorsement |of approval on any applica-:. tion, the State Engineer shall require that actual construction work must begin within six months from the date of suoh approval, and shall state the time within which the COAST;miction shall be completed, not exceeding five years from the date of approval; and, in case the application is for irrigation, shall state the time within which water shall be applied to a beneficial use, not exceeding four years in addition thereto. j; • • i • A- y. . y :- Provided, ThatYthe State Engineer shall have power, for good cause shown, to extend the time for oompletion of construction or for application to a beneficial U39„ but in no case shall extensions of-time be made that would place the date of proof of completion of construction and the proof of benefi-s oial use more than fourteen years from t_he date of •'ay,- approval.'^ ,7 ,y v.,.,.,..: Captain, Eall,'then Acting Agent at Uintah and Ouray, filed applications, as required by tho State Laws abovo quoted, for permission to appropriate wator from tho several ditchoo undorythinJ project, which were approved by the State Engineer In June and July 1905..
