Show ' ; #^ 3 lease similar to the Florence Mining Companies lease, I will do just as much for them as I did for the Florence Mining Company, in fact I dont think it fair and right that this company should have the exclusive right in this matter. Now I want to say that in this leasing proposition I have only obeya«3uorders that I received from the Hon. Secretary of the Interior, and the Commissioner of Indian Affairs. The following are copies of the letters I received author* ising the representatives of the Florence Mining Company to treat . with the Indians. Department of the Interior, Office of Indian Affairs, Wasbinton, October 16, 1901, The Florence Mining Company, H®nry C. Payne. President. The Secretary desires it to be understood that any concessions that may be made to this company shall not exceed an area of six hundred and forty acres (equal to one square mile), or less. depending upon the value asked for.
