Sir:- I have the honor to call your attention to the disposition of the Uncompahgre Inas.; regarding the sending their children to School;at the new School-buildings, just completed on tfiat reservation. As you are aware, the erection of these buildings,and the organization of a school there,is altogether a new departure for this Tribe of Utes;begun at my suggestion in a letter datst April 2nd,y^l(which see) Three buildings were authorized to be erected on an entirely new site,selected by Special Agent Parker,Supt.I.S.Binfora, and Myself: This site,taken in connection with a fine irrigating ditch, now nearing completion,is granted by all persons to be the most eligible, if not the only" on this reservation: The buildings erected under contract by Mr,Bert Seabolat,are all that could be desired,ana are pronounced by gudgesjto be th the best built in the Ind. service. They were finished,and opened for the reception of pujjils,on the 15th, of March last,but up to date all the pressure,aryu-ment, and persuation myself and employes'have'Xtble to bring to |
