The country In whtch they rove is generally open plains, but in so~e parts, particularly about the h~ad of the Assmniboin river, it is marshy and tolerably well fu:nished with timber, as are also the Fort Dauphm mountains to which they sometimes resort. From the quantity of beaver in their country, they ought to furnish more of that article than they do at present. They are not esteetned good beaver hunters. They might, probabl~ be i~duced to visit an establishment on the Missoun, at the Yell ow Stone river. Their number has been reduced, by the small pox, since they were first known to the Canadians. A.
