Show SITE EXAMPLE: MADSEN PARK Madsen Park, located at 9 N Chicago Street directly north of the railroad tracks, is currently a focus area for SLC Public Lands and the Parks, Trails, and Open Space Bond. It is the lowest rating park on the Westside on Google Maps, and though there are some trees, most of the park is unshaded which can lead to higher heat levels, amongst other issues caused by tree shortages. Planting trees along the perimeter of the park, focusing on the southern edge, would lead to better enclosure which could help make the park more welcoming and comfortable for visitors, along with the other improvements outlined in the concept below. Community members and environment-focused nonprofits like TreeUtah should be engaged every step of the way for Madsen Park’s improvements.
