Show SALT LAKE URBAN FORESTRY This dataset is available through the TreeKeeper canopy urban forestry planning tool. This tool allows us to observe the canopy data, identify areas to prioritize, and set tree planting goals. Though this dataset provides plenty of information that is crucial to this project, it also has its limitations. One of these limitations is that the raw data is quite cluttered which makes it hard to read and see the basemap. Another limitation is that the total tree count includes 4,432 Siberian Elms which are considered an invasive species. This brings the total count down to 112,413 trees. In addition to providing tree counts, this tool also provides a list of tree benefits. For example, Salt Lake City’s trees can provide $345,752 worth of benefits per year, broken down into carbon dioxide uptake ($125,694), storm water mitigation ($105,262), and air pollution removal ($114,796). 5 |
