Show 4. DESCRIBE THE PHYSICAL CONDITION OF THE SITE AT THE PRESENT TIME. The home has not been 1 ived in for 30 years. Needless to say, nature has taken her toll and the house is in sad need of repair. There are no windows, a screen door on the front, a partial door leading from the bedroom to the porch; the roof, though in existence, needs to be completely redone. Perhaps a few beams are salvagable, perhaps support beams may remain in portions of the house, but basically a whole new roof structure is needed. The walls need to be completely replastered, the hardwood floors are in quite good condition considering the fact that they have been exposed to the elements for so long. They need repair and perhaps can be salvaged if once they are pulled up and inspected they can Termites have caused some noticeable damage, be relaid efficiently. especially around the window sills and we would want all the floors taken up and relaid for safety's sake. The rock work is in amazingly good condition. The mud/adobe needs to be filled in between rocks and a few stones need to be replaced around the walls as well as many of the stones from the chimneys which have crumbled. The screen porch added by the Jones family needs to be torn down as the wood has rotten and is beyond safe repair. We intend to replace it with a porch in the same location, enlarged to support bathroom facil ities. The grainery is in about the same state as the home. The cellar cement floor seems sound, plastered walls have crumbled, but overhead beams are sound and need only care to give them new 1 ife. The upstairs grainery needs plastering, repairedor replaced foor and a completely new roof. The windows in the cellar and grainery are missing and there are no doors. But both the house and the grainery are sound structures. We shall attempt to restore the world of joy that this home was to her famil ies. |
