CALENDAR The second unit meeting in May will be a letter-w riting session (bring your own statione ry). The League is furnishi ng a guide on how to write to your congress men and flyers on world trade if you wish to enclose them in your letters . Remember, you write youi- own opinions based on your three-u nit trade study. You may write to congress men, newspap ers, business associatio hs~ etc. It will be fun and a practic al lesson in practic al politics -which we badly need. RECENT LOCAt DEVELOPMENTS The League supporte d the Granite and Salt Lake School Distric t leeway election s, both of which lost. The Board felt that the timing was very poor on the Snlt LQke election and would have preferre d that there be no election at this time. But since the League is committe d to the long-ran ge goals for which the addition al finances are needed, we had no choice but to support the leeway. This was done with letters to the editor, rele~~es to the newspap ers, and telephon ing to get out the voto. The League also supporte d the Metropo litan Water Distric t Bo·n d issue by letters and telephon ing. This election was won, which is a refreshi ng departur e for the League. The Board is keeping up with developm ents of the city capital improvem ents program and the new housing code. Details will be announced in the next Bulletin . Mrs. M.
