Show NUMBER: 10 FEATURE: Lightwell DATE OF FEATURE: 1914 A. The south side partial lightwell has been covered with siding (1985) and is in good condition. The flashing cap is missing in some areas or is in poor condition. B. The siding will be painted a color slightly darker than the color of the brick exterior. The original awnings on the front of the building have been removed. B. New awnings will be installed in the original position above transoms (see Section Drawings). PHOTO #: 1,4,5 DRAWING #: 3,10,10A NUMBER: 12 A. B. FEATURE: Ceilings and walls DATE OF FEATURE: 1914, 1980 (Interior) Much of the 1st and 2nd floor walls have been replace with sheetrock. Original transoms and door casings have been removed. Only "ghosted" images of these features remain on the 3rd floor. Some of the high base and chair moldings remain on the 3rd floor hallway. The 1st and 2nd floor ceilings have been lowered while the 3rd remains original height. The 1st and 2nd floor walls will be patched, replaced and painted to accommodate new floor plan layout. The 3rd floor plaster walls and ceilings will be removed and replaced with new sheetrock. The base moldings in the halls and common areas will be repaired or replaced to match original on the 3rd floor. Vinyl cove to be used in non-common areas (units, bathrooms). The high chair moldings in hallway will be repaired or replaced to match original. The ceiling on the 2nd floor hallway will be re-opened to expose the original height and match the 3rd floor. unit ceilings will have acoustical drop but will not be lower than original window height. The main floor ceiling will be an acoustical drop with ceiling tiles approved by National Park Service. The ceiling will be raised square in front of transoms to expose such feature. Some of the electrical system has been updated, but still requires significant work to be adequate and meet code. All of the original light fixtures have been replaced with florescent 2x4 panels. B. The electrical system will be refurbished or replaced as needed to meet current fire code and electrical demand. New fixtures will be added as necessary. The hallways will be refinished with surface mounted fixtures that match historic period rather than florescent |
