They won't hurt you," But Thompson is not to be reassured. "I'm gonna lock myself in the fucking van for the next two months. They can't get in there, can they?" he says looking all around nervously. "They like warm places on cool nights," says O'Connell coming back from the water truck. "Sometimes they crawl into your boots at night and hide in the toe and wait for their chance when you put them on in the morning. You never know when they're gonna get you. I knew a guy once," says O'Connell, "who reached for a glass of water beside his bed in the middle of the night. He Just felt for the glass and grabbed it and started in to drink. |
