Tihe Great Salt Lake Valley h 8 _s added.i:g · . . * 1HHt- " When these pione e rs arrived in ·the valleys of the mountains they found Nature's grasses untouched by teeth of domistic herds; the effect of the blade of steel had never touched the forests; the sparkling moun tain streams gurgled d_own the ravines into·. meadowylowlands, laughi ng a nd here a nd there reflecting beautiful shadows, all because of the liberty and freedom they enjoyed; the wild life so abundant looked on without ·rear; the soils were overburdened with fertility, but the scenes have changed--and why?"
