Show Ferguson Lives Butch and Fenn Stories 17 Finally, I rise from the weeds, leaving an indentation, and walk over to Fenn. He doesn't see me until I punch his shoulder, so he turns the hose right in my face for a good flashing second, and he says, "Butch?" "Do I look like Butch?" "Everybody looks like Butch to me." "It's me: Larry. Everybody looks like me, too, don't they?" "Hi, Larry. Look at that. Look at this dog." I look down. Tiny is gone except for his head. His eyes and his black nose stick out of the muddy water. "This dog," Fenn says running the water on Tiny's face, "has a problem." While we are standing there, Butch comes around the corner of the house, slips behind us, across the yard and into the basement doorway. The only reason I know this is that he stepped across the broken fragment of the plastic swimming pool which is upside down against the house. It makes a real noise, broken and clacking. ~~TE is odd that Butch was not here and then that he goes across the yard without speaking. And that he was carrying a violin case. Fenn is on his hands and knees staring into Tiny's eyes. "This damn dog is a crocodile." "Come on, Fenn, Butch is in the lab." "He is?" Fenn picks up his bat and follows me down into the lab.
