On the day I'm talking about that old miner got avaricious and filled an extra car. Well, sir, Emmett and Sadie were smarter'n that old miner gave 'em credit for. When the ore cars were hitched together, the mules always counted the clicks of the coupling pins. So when Emmett and Sadie heard that extra click, they refused to move.
