Show -23- There is a total of 54 miles, of which 38 miles are on land of white settlers and 16 miles on Indian land. Practically all laterals necessary for the white settlers have been provided, but to complete the system on the Indian lands will require canals as below: 30 sec.-ft. capacity 2 miles. 20 a a « 5 tt 10 ti (< 13 t( Total 20 miles. Total cubic yards, 300,000; estimated cost at 25 cents per yard, $75,000. Besides the canals, the following structures have been completed: 35 checks and bridges on main laterals, containing 758 yds. concrete, cost $30,078.63 204 checks, bridges, and culverts on small canals, containing 714 yds., cost 21,146.23 179 farm turnouts containing 403 yds., cost 16,270.58 The total cost of all structures has been $67,495.44 The above structures complete about all that are required for whites, but the extension of the system to each 40 acres of Indian land will involve structures as below: 260 bridges, checks, culverts, etc., estimated at $36,000 235 turnouts at 40-acre tracts, estimated at 17,500 |
