McNiece, <br> Salt Lake City, Utah. <br> Dear Brother: <br> Dr. John Eaton will leave Washington the last of this week to meet with you at the Synod and afterwards return with you to Salt Lake City. He goes out as an educational expert to look over the ground with regard to the college. He does not say positively that he will accept the presidency; but if he finds matters as he expects and finds that the Presbyterians of Utah are disposed to take hold of the matter prayerfully and vigorously, I think, that he will accept. He has had, however, too much experience in college matters to attempt to carry the college on his own shouldres. If everyone will take hold , put his own shoulder to the wheel and push, looking to the General as a leader, the college will prove a success. While the General is with you, I suggest that you keep him as long as possible. He deprecates any public meeting but thinks more can be accomplished by personal interviews with individuals and the trustees.
