Show Juror ~s State~nent Annual Exhibition It was such an honor to be invited to jury this year's WFWS exhibition. I would like to congratulate all accepted artists since, as you know, there are many art associations combined, making the competition extreme. I hope even if you were not accepted this year, you will submit again and know that another juror may have selected a different exhibit. Putting together a balanced exhibition is not easy and I applaud you for putting yourself out there for consideration. As a juror, I am very concerned with both composition and design. The bone structure underneath the piece of art is significant in determining the strength of the work coupled with enough contrast to give the work a sense of comfort. Division of space is another key element that I consider to give a piece of artwork more intrigue and a sense of mystique. Having established the work with the most successful composition, as a juror, I personally look for an element of surprise such as a unique subject matter or point of view along with perhaps an unexpected use of color or emotion. Seeing the hand of the artist in the work is the mark of experience and talent. The WFWS exhibit is an interesting mix and well varied in subject matter from figurative to realistic, with a nice splash of abstraction. I hope you will enjoy viewing the exhibition as much as I enjoyed selecting it. Respectfully submitted, Linda Daly Baker, AWS/NWS Juror of Entries & Awards 295 Seven Farms Drive. Suite C222.
