Show Peterson and I were to travel together. October 31, 1891 We were given about 200 names of members whom they had lost track of since Elders Gibbs and Berry were killed by a mob eight years prior to this. This field had been abandoned since these Elders were killed. We were to look up these members and find out their standing. We were to go through four or five counties, but were forbidden to go within thirty miles of the place of the tragedy. The first day out we travelled in .Lecab County. Night came on; we asked at twelve places for entertainment--all refused to keep us. We then decided to go out in the timber and ask the Lord to assist us that. we m2ght find entertainment for the night. We called at the next house and were received kindly by a Mr. Moore who kept a toll gate and tavern. He said he had kept Elders Perkins and Emmet years ago. Here we received faith that the Lord v.rould hear and answer prayer. Mrs. Moore invited us to call upon her mother, Mrs. Bennett, a wiaow about six miles from there. We did so and found some good friends in them, the mother, d&ughter, and two young men. On one occasion we were out near Smithville, Decab County, and could not get entertainment. It was raining and dark. We decided to go to Mrs. Bennett's rather than be out in the rain all night. We arrived about eleven o'clock, P.M. When we entered the house, she said, "I have been praying for you to come all the afternoon." She was very sick with bronchitis and asked us to administer to her, which ~e did. She was relievea at once. This was evidence that the Lord can answer the prayers of all honest people. At this home I recieved the greatest testimony of the Gospel while on my mission.
