She has taught school for twelve years . Mother and I have reason to be proud of our family . On December 24 , 1879 we ~ere married at the St . George Temple. David ~annan, Presiaent of the Temple at thht time, performed the ceremony . Joseph L. Heywood, my wife, and I were i·nvi ted to have Christmas dinner at Brother Cannon's home the next day after our marriage. We had a very enjoyable time . Brother Cannon ana Brother Heywooa were old time friends . My worldly possessions were a fine well-matched team and a 3! wagon. As I have related before, my mother maae most of the clothes I naa up to this time. My first suit I bought at Silver Reef the aay before the wedding . I peddled dressed chickens for the suit . - Most people ao not believe this . I tell them I have two witnesses--my father-in-law , and my wife. On ou.r way home we had a heavy snow ana were four days from ~ew Harmony to Panguitch with eight teams in the company . Snow a.t Bear :Valley was three to four feet <ieep. The housekeeping stuff was purchased second-hand for one cow. We had an extremely hara winter . Food supplies were scarce; however, we haa pleyty of very cnoice pot[~ toes . We haa mdny meals of roasted potatoes in the ashes, salt ana water . In a short time we had pleyty of good milk ana butter; however, we had some pioneering .
