Show FRANCINE OREN EN pril14 2004 enlisted rank. And then when I was able to get through disbursing clerk school I was mad an E-4. o I was a Petty Officer 3rct Class Disbursing Clerk in the navy. FHM: How did you feel when you made rank like that? FS: I was very proud of myself that I was able to get to that point. Some of the people in the school washed out and didn't make it. And I was able to get through, and I understood what they required of me, and I was able to do it well. So, I was proud of that. FHM: Did you stay there for the rest of your military service? FS: No. After disbursing clerk school I was stationed in San Diego at the Naval Finance Center. It was a big office that they had there that helped to maintain the payroll records when the ships came into port, and for Miramar Naval Air Station, and for all of the navy things that were going on in San Diego. It was their main finance center. FHM: Did you ever see combat when you were in the military? FS: No, I did not. FHM: Can you tell me about some of your most memorable experiences? FS: Some of the things that were memorable to me were, especially at boot camp, I was able to excel in the educational things that we did there, and they made me the Education Petty Officer for our company in boot camp. And, so, I tutored a lot of the girls that were having trouble with what we were studying each day. And I helped them get through. Also, I was able to be one of the battalion officers. I can't even think of the words now. The adjutant-it's kind of like the assistant commander of the battalion. I was called the adjutant. And, so, I would command the company around as we marched.
