So the storekeepers and stuff thought, well, listen can we come out and set up our wares out in front of the base and you can come outside of the gate and look at them. We're still thinking terrorists here, man, we're not going to do this. We're still two years to the aft of Kobashi [?] Towers and nobody wants to find themselves involved in that. So that didn't work out too well. So a couple of weeks wnet by and the Chamber of Commerce, if you will, from that area, approached the base commander. Maybe we could come set up our wares inside your enlisted club, a more secure area and maybe your people would want to frequent that and buy some of our local, or contribute to our local economy. They do a balacing act. That isn't the point. But there was still the stigma of you know what, all this graffiti outside the base, but you don't want us to come into Chania; you don't want us, yet you'll take our money. It got to the point where, we're getting towards the end ... by thew ay, we were from 18 May through the second week in July and we were reconstituted and we came home. But in that period of time, like mid-June, Kosovo operations were winding down. We'd done our job there from the air standpoint. Our wing commander at Ramstein's considering our reconstitution. What he wasn't to do is he thinks he's got us, we're his. He came up and counseled with our wing commander for the 191 st. He was a very down to earth kind of guy, traditional Guardsman and air tech. I remember overhearing the conversation out on the flight line. Colonel Johnson let this wing commander from Ramstein know simply this ... well, [ shuffling noise] what this is.
