Show MARK COOPER JUNE 6, 2001 the meantime I d quit and gone to work for the-well, yeah, I said I went to work for the truck lease service and that was where we were living when I went into the Service. BEC: MAR: ERM: MAR: BEC: ERM: BEC: MAR: Oh. Well our boy our oldest boy, was born in November of 1941. He's the one we lost. We didn't get to keep him We lost him when he was- at birth. You say he died at birth? Uh-huh. Oh. And then we moved out to this little house and it was about the time they registered everybody for the draft and stuff like that and I got classified 1-A. ' And he said 'Well, I don't know." I said, Well, let's take it this way. We'll go in the place and the first one I'll go in and the second one you go in." He said, "Okay." So that's what we did. I went in the Air Force and he went in the Navy. BEC: MAR: BEC: MAR: Is that right? Yeah. A real scientific method there. Yeah. Real scientific (laughter). That was in the fall of 1942 and then October was our wedding anniversary, October the 2nd. And October the 5th I went into 18 |
