Show women from the country. She gives promise of becoming a very fine Biblewoman. In April Dr. Cb'i left for a position in public health work with the Tsinan Hospital. We were unable to get another Chinese doctor to take his place so when Dr. Cooke had to go to Tehchow, Dr. Li Wu Keng (one" of Tehchow's doctors) came down to take charge of the women's wards. Miss Sun, with us since 1923, resigned in April and is intending to take up public health work. During 1937, one hundred thirty-eight (138) babies were born in the Hospital; 112 being our previous highest number. Had the war not intervened, we should have had close on to 200, according to all prospects. One woman, wife of the principal of the Girls' Grammar School, bad had four miscarriages, so when pregnant a fifth time came to the Hospital and was given simple treatment, with the result that she now has a plump little baby boy, the pride of her heart. She is a member of the Church and very helpful in the Women's Organization, very grateful and eager to pass on to other women the knowledge of public and personal hygiene and care of babies which she has learned in the Hospital. - 6 - |
