Show 10 ambulatory ward was remodeled into a kitchen. A hot water tank was purchased which will keep water for baths constantly on tap. A room was added in which the drinking water can be boiled and the mou-mou (wheat bread) can be steamed. As soon as we can save the money, a septic tank must be installed. These arrangements are not ideal but are the best that can be obtained without funds. At least the kitchen is clean, can be kept so, and the building will not collapse in the next summer rain. The number of gifts to the Hospital from friends in America, both of materials and of money has decreased this year, as was to be expected, because of the financial stringency. However several, as Hawaii, have faithfully remembered us as formerly, in spite to Depression. But to our friends who cannot give material gifts, we would say, "Do not forget daily to hold up our hands in prayer, sustaining prayer that across the seas will work miracles in this land of fear and wrong and suffering." Just one case: an actor who was suddenly striken with a strangulated hernia far from home. He was brot to us five days |
