The facilities afforded by the home economics department of the average high school are inadequate for the best training in homemaking activities and in establishing ideals. The department work is not closely enough related to either the needs of the girl or to actual home conditions. Thoughtful teachers throughout the country have realized the need of having instruction carried out under normal living requirements. To meet this need classroom method has been supplemented and motivated by two kinds of home projects. These re the supervised home projects during the summer which are a part of Utah's twelve months' program and which are in accord with the idea that vocational education is not seasonal and also home projects closely connected wiht the class recitation and supervised as a part of the regular winter work. |
