Show Photograph 1 6 . 2 Outstanding Issues for Encouraging Slag Use Ash melting equipment vendors as well as the municipalities with such installations are experimenting with various methods of effective slag use. However, public policy and regulations concerning its use are not in place yet, and we urgently need government involvement in these areas at the national and prefectural levels. 7. Conclusion 7.1 It is necessary to remove metals such as copper, iron and aluminum from ash in order to prevent accumulation and blockage at the slag tap. The exhaust gas should be directed to flow along with the molten slag to maintain temperature there. The clinker should be crushed, and the ash particle size should be controlled to remain below 5 m m diameter. 7.2 A local heating type burner with a small flame is desirable. Oil burner requires fine mist formation which enables small flame, combined with the combustion air injection system. The furnace volume defined by the ash-melting surface, side walls and furnace top, is determined by the burner flame, and furnace load of 500,000Kcal/m3 is a good bench mark. 14 |
