Description (1851) Laws of Deseret not conflicting with the Organic Act of the territory were reenacted by the first territorial legislature and ordered to be revised and classified. Willard Richards, Secretary of the State of Deseret, published the 1851 compilation, which was reprinted verbatim in 1919.

OCR Text 30 imprisoned or both at the discretion of the court Sec 22 Be it further ordained that if any person or persons shall have or attempt to havesexual intercourse with any of the brute creation on conviction thereof they shall be deemed guilty ofhigh misdemeanor and be fined or imprisoned or both at the discretion of the court Sec 23 Be it further -ordained that if any man or boy shall have or attempt to have any sexual intercourse with any of the male creation on conviction thereof they shall be deemed guilty of Sodomy and be fined or imprisoned or both as the court may direct Sec 24 If any man shall have sexual intercourse with any female not his wife or shall seduce any female or any person be ing accessory to the same shall on conviction thereof be subject to imprisonment and hard labor not exceeding five years and private tfamages andfine not exceeding five thousand dollars at the discretion of the court and any female seducing or unlawfully cohabiting withmale shall receive the same punshiment Sec 25 Be it further ordained that if any man or boy shall forcewoman or girl tosexual intercourse or attempt the same with them on conviction of the fact to the court he shall be fined or imprisoned or both as the court may direct Sec 26 Be it further ordained that if any person or persons shall use any means by which an untimely birth of any child shall be had or any pregnant woman shall be delivered by which the death of one or either may be produced unless the same shall be proven to have been done for the purpose of preserving the life of the mother they shall be deemed guilty of murder and upon conviction thereof suffer the penalty as provided in the first section of this ordinance Sec 27 Be it further ordained that if any person or persons shall commitrobbery by forcibly taking from the possession of another any species of property they shall on conviction thereof be fined or imprisoned or both at the discretion of the court Sec 28 Be it further ordained that if any person or persons Jlimage 2005 J Quinney College of Law Al rights reserved
