Description (1851) Laws of Deseret not conflicting with the Organic Act of the territory were reenacted by the first territorial legislature and ordered to be revised and classified. Willard Richards, Secretary of the State of Deseret, published the 1851 compilation, which was reprinted verbatim in 1919.

Description 98 • 7 '" That the laws heretofore passed by the provisional government of the State of Deseret, and which do not conflict with the "Organic Act," of said Territory, be, and the same are hereby declared to be legal, and in full force and virtue, and shall so remain until superseded by the action of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Utah. Approved October 4, 1851.
