China Abstract YOSHlZO SUZUKJ,HIROSHl MORJTOMJ,NOBUO K1DO National .Institute for Resources and Enviromcnt ,Tsukuba ,lbaraki,305 Japan Desulfurational experiment of four kinds of limes tones produced in the northeastern part of China were done in a fixed bed. rrheir characteristic of desulfuration are qUite different. Their pore structures which were derived from the calcination 'were studied. 1t was found that the specific volume and specific surface area' of calcined limestones have the important inf1u~nces on the capacity of SO% capture. Therefore ,the sequence of the desulfuration of limestones are listed. The pore size distribution showed that the radius range of most of pores which play important role for desulfuration are 10-7--1 0-6m which corresponds the order of magnitude of the mean free path of SO% and O 2 molecules. 1t is reasonable to think that the reaction of the SOt with CaO on sarface of des ulfurizer is by nlo1ecular d iffus ion controlld.
