Show Rosenb1att 7-31 p.lO L Why did you not run? J I didn't think that I needed-- I was not cut out to be the kind of a guy that would make a successful politician. I had too many years of being my own boss and running thingsthe way I wanted to run them. Too many -- it would have been just plain hard work! And I had enough of that. L Did the pestige of the office attract you. J No. Oh. to say "not at all" would be, you know, it's--that sort of thing has never meant Rae very much to me. L You might have been good. J I'm absolutely sure I would have been the best governor the state had ever had. In ~n any capacity I had, was to manage. And I'm damn sure I could have run this state much more efficiently it was then being managed and certainly since it's been managed since then. L Would have been interesting. J After our finishing what was known as the Little Hoo er Commission Report and it was made available to the legislature, tot Oblic in general, oh about a year after I guess, less than a year, I get a call from the Secretary of the Governor of Kansas. Asking me to come to Topeka and talk to legislative group there about the ~g¥~~g~ili}Yof their doing the same kind of a study in Kansas, of following some of the recommendations that we had made here. So, I said, fine, I would be interested. I'd be glad to come. And they talked about the board, no, I'll come at my own expense and I won't take anything for it. And it will be a matter G some satisfactionfor me. So. I did. Spent oh about three days there. And when I finished, and went in and talked with the Governor. He got up from his chair and he said, Rosenblatt come on over here and sit in this chair. He said, I think you can do this job better than I'm doing. L What goernor was that? J I can't remember ms name. L WHo was it that originaly asked youtothink about it. Was it someone who was en here. J Oh, yes. The republican--party people, yes. L Who in particular -- J 0 don't know. L ~ You would ave been running up against Rampton, I guess. J Yeah. Rampton's a very nice guy. A very sweet guy. He'd have been a pushover. L Would have been interesting years, you know. Viet Nam Civil rights movement. You would have been right in the thick of it. J Yu p. Yup. G ________ society, all that stuff. L That' s what the republicans needed. |
