Show OHI Ralph Tannenbaum 6-18-82 s 2 :37 repsonded constantly. Wheni came back, in about Sept. of 42, I called ~ present wife from San Francisco and asked her to marry me. In the meantime, of course, I knew her mother. I knew her brother, etc. We had, by this time, already known each other for almost four years. And she said, well, she thinks so but why don't I come to Denver on my leave. And os I come to Denver on my leave. I think I had ten days. As I recall. And after a long conversation, we decided, ok, we'd get married. We got married. L Youwere together for along time beforeyou got married. RT SPoradically though . A long period of acquaintanceship. But a ver- sporadic time of actually being togheter. L Was there ever a chance foryou to marry someon who is not Jewisfu? RT Oh, probably . It never entered my mind. But, first of all, when I girst wnet in the service, our letters back andforth were that we would get married after the war. Afterny ship was hit at Guadalcanal, many of my peers, my shipmates, the other junior officers, I think , there were like 8 marriages fiuring that time that we were being repaired. And that was when there was a change of heart about waiting for the end of the war. end side two begin side three |
