Transcript (typescript, 134 pages) of an interview with Raymond Uno, a Japanese-American living in Utah in 1987. Judge Uno (b. 1930) reminisces about his childhood in Ogden, Utah, the family's move to California in the mid-1930s, and subsequent experiences during the Japanese relocations of World War II. The Uno family was sent to the Hart Mountain relocation center in Wyoming. In 1948 Uno enlisted in the United States Army and served in post-war Japan. He also relates his experiences in the Utah judicial system |

And that's where ... This is 3rd West here. Yeah. Then you have the, you know, the Buddhist Temple is right there on that corner. Right on the corner. Yeah. Right on the corner. And then you had the old Buddhist Church over here. They owned that property there. And then they had the Christian Church Mats, you know, where the pastor used to stay. Right next to the old Buddhist Church. That was kind of right in there? Yeah, right in there. And then the Christian Church is right here, the seond building from the corner. Goes all the way back, yeah. And then they had the cleaners here. What did they used to call that cleaners? Something, hand laundry and then Iwasaki Corporation owned the apartment houses there. Apartment houses? Yeah, right in there. On the corner? No, no. There was a gas station on the corner. That was leased by Peewee Iwasaki, yeah. 6 |
