Of course, tome, she looked like quite a mature women and she may not have been. L She could have been a younger woman. EK And then I went through the second grade. Laura Curtis was my teacher then. And third grade was Marianne Nebeker. L You remmeber them all. EK Fourth grade was Lila Home. And L Is Nebeker with two K's. EK No. NEBEKER· She was the siter to the ~incipal of that school that year. His name was Lee NEbeker. Andit was his younger sister.Inthe fifth graede. I startedin the 5th grade and this t~acher was Jean Oliver. And everybody used to say, look out for her. She's red headed and she's really a mean teacher. And she was on eof the kindly-she was a good teacher. But a weekafter school ~arted. we used to have b line up outside and march to music, just like soldiers, you know, march up to our classes. And we were going upstairs, she called me and she said, well, you step out of line and wait for me. And I thought, what in ~e world have I done. So. I steppedout and waited for her and she come --all of ouf breath, come running. To me. And she says, You know what I'm going to dowith you. I said, no, what have I done. She said, in those 6 days |
