Show A New Place For Local Pickers Musician's "Social" Club Sets Bluegrass Jams IT'S NEW: BLUEGRASS JAMMIN' AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN JAMM. Beginning in February, a new avenue will open up for hard-core bluegrass jammers through twice-a-month sessions at Rocky Mountain Jamm. These are scheduled so as not to conflict with the regular jam sessions at Crompton's. RMJ, which bills itself as "a musician's social club", is located in Sugarhouse on Wilmington Ave. (2200 South) just off Highland Drive (1100 East). It is upstairs behind Fashion Gal, located on the southeast comer of Highland and Wilmington. The performing area is a stage bigger than your living room, replete with all sorts of sound equipment. With a little furniture rearranging we will be able to set up vocal and instrument mikes and everything, and bring a classier sound to our spontaneous musical efforts - real uptown stuff. All serious bluegrass pickers and listeners are urged to come out and support this. It's still in the experimental stage, and needs significant support in order to survive. Bluegrass jam sessions are scheduled for the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month, beginning at 7:00p.m. This ·month, that's Feb. 14 and Feb. 28. RMJ offers a variety of beers on tap, and Plettae !i511pport 011r !AM :Ativertlaera ... ' .. And just so you don't get confused, the regular bluegrass jams will continue to be held at Crompton's on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. This month that's Feb. 7 and Feb. 21. I'll see you there, too. --Bangs Michael Hedges and D'Addario Acoustic Complements There are many compliments , but few · complements, for an acoustic guitar talent like Michael Hedges. How do you enhance the abilities of an artist Musician Magazine cited as " generally considered king of the hill"? Michael starts by playing D'Addario Strings. Whether he 's performing delicate instrumentals, muscular rock, or anything in between , Michael knows D'Addario Strings are always the perfect complement to his performance. And we consider that the perfect compliment. 5 |
