Show Charles David Alexander The mysteries of acoustic amplification are revealed! House concert follows. Charles David Alexander, the 1992 National Fingerstyle Guitar Champ, will be here in Salt Lake City for a clinic and a house concert. The clinic, sponsored by RANE Corp. and Local Music, will be a gathering for acoustic instrument players of all abilities and styles, and will cover not only the amplification issue for acoustic guitars, but the fingerstyle side of guitar playing, as well as singer I songwriter topics. Indeed, the equipment Charles uses is applicable to mandolins, fiddles, etc.; really any acoustic stringed instrument. Charles will mostly be demonstrating some of the new Rane & Fishman products that do a great job of producing a natural acoustic sound via amplification. So if you're a dyed-in-the-wool bluegrass flatpicker, or even a celtic/folk/punk/ rock/funk/new wave/disco/Elvis impersonator, this workshop could be for you. Charles David is a fine singer I song-Writer, and being a personable kindof guy, will probably field all types of questions. Even better, this workshop is FREE, compliments of the Rane Corp. and Local Music. There will also be free T-shirt, cap, and D' Addario string give-aways to the clinic participants. The workshop will be held on Monday, March 7, 7 p.m. at Local Music, 774 East 800 South. Please call to reserve space. The house concert will be an opportunity to hear the best of Charles' singer I songwriting skills along with his instrumental talents. The show is Sunday, March 6 at the home of Larry and Karla Pattis, 1537 South 1500 East, potluck at about 6 p.m. and music to start, oh, about 7:30 or so. Recommended donation is a scant 5 bucks.
