Show -24- ANDERSON N: Did you do any buying from a mail-order catalogue? A: Oh, my, yes. That's how we bought our clothes. N: What kind of catalogue do you remember? Sears or Montgomery Wards? A: Oh, Sears and Montgomery Wards. N: Did you have any others? A: No, just Sears and Montgomery ~-Wards. T: Did anyone ever buy from any of the stores in Salt Lake, like Z.C.M.I.? A: Oh, yes. T: Did they have a mail-order book of some ••• A: No. They didn't send a book out. T: You just ordered it? A: We!d just wirte and tell them what we wanted. T: And they'd send it. A: We used to write a note to th~ store here in prigham, the grocery store, and I'd send 4im a list of what I wanted on ppe train and on the next train he'd send it out to me. We got ff~e transportation on our groceries. N: So in those early years the train was very tmportant to you people living up there wasn't it? A: We had a car, we could get out but the train .was easier in the winter. T: What yea~ did you get your car, when was the first year? A: Oh, we had a car when we were married. T : 1919 , 19 2 0 , t ha t . . . N: Was it a Model "A"? A: Hay, we had a Dodge! |
