Show n·O> 0 The radiant heat flux at a point in the gas is expressed as V'q = 47rK.1b - K. 1. J(O)dO. 411' (13) The direction cosines (J-l, TJ,~) in the Eq. (11) determine the direction fi of travel of the ray. Their values range from -1 to 1 subject to the condition J-l2 + TJ2 +~2 = 1 (14) The direction vector 0 in a space is composed by zenith angle 8 and azimuthal angle ¢. The direction cosines J-l, TJ and ~ have the relations with these two angles as follows J-l = sin 8 cos ¢ (15) TJ = sin 8 sin ¢ (16) ~ = cos 8 (17) 3. CAGCT Research Furnace The interior of the CAGCT research furnace, Fig. 1, was divided into two chambers by a checkerwork brick endwall which has 8x3 arrangement of small openings. The first is the furnace cavity which is 4.5 m long, 3 m wide and 1 m high. The second is the exhaust plenum chamber which is 0.6 m long, 3 m wide and 1 high. The sidewall of the furnace cavity is fitted with three long flame burners. The roof is fitted with flat-flame in 3x3 arrangement. The sidewall and roof burners are never fired together. A schematic diagram of low-NOz side wall burner used in this work is shown in Fig. 2. The fuel flows in the annulus between the lance air pipe (33.7 mm O.D) and the fuel pipe (40 mm LD). The combustion air issues from four partial annular channels. Each channel represents 1/8 of an annular area, 70 mm O.D and 55 mm LD. The burners are each rated at 0.4 MW maximum combustion heat release. burner releases 0.4 MW maximum combustion heat. The refractory linings of walls and roof are of ceramic fiber blocks, 0.305 m (12 inches) thick. 5 |
